The backstory to the original Dune tells the story of how Roszak’s sister became a Bene Gesserit. The incident with Valja Harkonnen using the voice is from one called “Mentats of Dune.” All three books deal with the development of nurses, mentees, navigators, and brush doctors. I don’t mean to be critical of just the first episode of a TV show, but it was just average on every level. The acting was subpar except for a few established actors like Mark Strong, Emily Watson, Olivia Williams, and maybe Travis Fimmel.
The story was very loose and the dialogue wasn’t Dune-worthy
The rest of the cast felt like they just graduated from film school or something. I love slow dramas that take forever to build because I know the payoff is worth the wait. But it wasn’t just slow, there was a lot going on, but it was just boring, I don’t know how else to put it. The soundtrack that roamed the films was a little choppy here and there, some familiar sounds popped up here and there, but the timing just wasn’t right.
My question is, did he even enjoy making it?
It felt like I heard a lot of music here that didn’t have an effect. I remembered how much time in films we go with people just talking to each other, and then boom, Hans Zimmer does his magic and I was so excited. But I know he wasn’t involved in the sound design here, and I don’t even need to check. I’m not sure if Denis Villeneuve was involved in this production, I hope not.
Food for thought
Would a mediocre TV show like this after two epic movies have any impact on the long-awaited third movie? What I’m interested in is that The Penguin was so good that it made me appreciate Batman even more than I did after watching it, and I can’t wait for the second movie. So how will Dune: Prophecy affect the third movie, if there is one at all.
